Martin Lingnau

Martin Lingnau, born 1971, is one of Germany’s most popular and successful songwriters and composers. In the last couple of years million people have seen his musicals. In addition to his musical theater work he also composes music for the dramatic theater as well as numerous TV productions.

Lingnau studied at the Music and Performing Arts College in Hamburg. He took part in many master classes held by renowned artists, such as the librettist Michael Kunze, Pulitzer Prize Winner James Lapine as well as the Oscar-winner, Stephen Schwartz.

Lingnau has written numerous musicals and shows, among them „Sixty Sixty“, the musical version of Jostein Gaarders „The Orange-Girl“ and the bestseller of the Hamburg Theater Schmidts Tivoli „A Summer Nights Dream“, „Villa Sunshine“, „Heiße Ecke”, and „Swinging St. Pauli“ as well as „Swinging Berlin“. Martin Lingnau is one of the author’s of „Pension Schmidt“, the most successful German stage soap opera. He composed more than 60 songs for this production.

His latest production, „Walter Moers’ 13 _ Lives of Captain Bluebear“, was highly acclaimed at the opening night in October 2006 in Cologne and received the Live Entertainment Award 2007. At the end of 2008, FKP Scorpio started its second tour series with this family musical throughout Germany.

The world premiere of the musical “Der Schuh des Manitu” took place on December 7, 2008 at the Berlin Theater des Westens. His most recent creation startet in November 2014 at the new "Stage Theater an der Elbe" in Hamburg: "Das Wunder von Bern" .
