Edith Jeske

Edith Jeske, born1957, studied lyrics with Knut Kniesewetter and Peter Horton in Hamburg and completed the master class for musicals under the direction of Dr. Michael Kunze.

In addition to composing lyrics, Jeske also wrote storylines for a TV soap. Jeske, is a lecturer for songtexts at the School for Music and Theatre in Hamburg as well as initiator and head of the Seminar for Lyricists in the Entertainment Music Industry, based in the German city of Celle.

Jeske is the winner of the Benatzky-Contest and the Hamburg-Song-Contest. Her repertoire ranges from hits to chansons, among others for Udo Lindenberg and other German music stars. Jeske composed lyrics for a number of popular musicals, e.g. „Swinging St. Pauli“, the most successful German musical of the year 2001/2002, respectively for „Swinging Berlin – Dancing forbidden“, and the „Orange Girl“ as well as „Unterhund“ (Underdog). „The Orange Girl“, had its opening night in 2004 in Trier, and celebrated a successful premiere of its edited version on December 5, 2008 in Vienna.

Edith Jeske is a member of the board of the German Textdichter Verband (Lyrics Association) and lives in Berlin, Hamburg, as well as in the German region of the low mountain range of the Eifel.
